Studio Theatre of Bath presented Neil Simons Comedy, Jake's Women at the Winter Street Center weekends November 7th and 14th.
The title character was (played by Hugh Barton of Topsham) is a writer whose mind is overflowing with worries and anxieties as he faces a marital crisis. In scenes that are sometimes present and sometimes flashbacks, the women in his life endlessly interrupt Jake's thoughts.
We meet his revered first wife (played by Amanda Smith of Brunswick) who was killed many years earlier in an accident, his daughter at times recalled as a child (played by Diana Bernier Siegler of Lewiston) and then as a young women (played by Natasha Bernier Siegler of Lewiston), and his bossy sister (played by Shirley Bernier of Lewiston). Also stepping in and out of Jake's mind and the audience presence are is current wife (played by Lisa Kristoff of Boothbay Harbor), his girlfriend (played by Sandi Panati of Dresden) and his psychoanalyst (played by Beth Saufler of Bath). Jake's efforts to keep all these characters in line makes for a funny foray into the world of modern relationships.
Jake's Women was directed by Jim Colby, produced by Ray Fredrick, with set design by Thom Watson and lights by Ray Siegler.
A percentage of the profit went to Sagadahoc Preservation Inc. to help with their kitchen project.
